Suzhou Culture & Arts Center scheduled two performances of "Dynamic Yunnan", an award-winning singing and dancing show inspired by the ethnic groups of Yunnan Province, at the Grand Theater on August 28 and 29. Yang Liping, the director, choreographer and leading dancer, shared with local fans the stories behind the curtain on the afternoon of August 24.

Since its premiere in 2003, nearly 3,000 shows of "Dynamic Yunnan" have been presented in 48 Chinese cities as well as Japan, the U.S., Argentina, and Brazil. In a sense, it has become a name card of Chinese national culture.

"We keep the essence of the old show and add something new, such as better sound and lighting effects," explained the famed "Peacock Princess of China". "What remains the same are the soul of the folk art and the representation of traditional culture."
