SIP’s Hudong sub-district has made remarkable outcomes in pollution prevention and control over the past one year. 

 

To prevent and control air pollution caused by dust and smoke, the sub-district authorities have increased regular inspections over construction sites, roads and streets and restaurants to curb pollution-causing activities and urge adoption of effective measures against construction waste, road dust and cooking fumes.

 

For water protection, the sub-district is carrying out a two-tier river chief mechanism to strengthen monitoring and management of water quality and eliminate pollution sources.

 

On the other hand, the sub-district is following a three-year action plan to deter illegal land use and encourage local residents to join such soil protection campaigns as reducing use of plastics and properly disposing waste that can pollute soil.

The local authorities disclosed that they will further improve related working and accountability mechanisms and enhance publicity on environmental protection in the future to ensure a good environment for local residents.
