SIP Hanlin Kindergarten in SIP’s Moon Bay sub-district recently joined a program that the neighboring Hanlinyuan Community has been pushing on since last October to encourage local residents to grow green plants and flowers in designated zones with organic fertilizers made from kitchen scraps collected from their homes and processed by professional staff using compost bins. The kindergarten was concurrently designated a base for the implementation of the program.

It is learnt that kids in the kindergarten will take part in collecting kitchen scraps on a regular basis and using the organic compost generated to nourish the plants in their “gardens”, namely several planting beds in the kindergarten. The kindergarten believes it is a good way of teaching their children about garbage classification.
