SIP ICV Testing Zone to come into service

SIP ICV Testing Zone, a zone that started construction last November for testing of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) which are believed effective solutions for ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow, is scheduled to partly come into service on Oct 11.
 
The zone is designed with a number of roads which, totally 66 kilometers long, are equipped with advanced systems to test vehicles’ abilities of communicating with other vehicles or infrastructure such as streetlights or buildings.
“The project is carried out in three phases, and the completed part covers roads with a total length of 8.8 kilometers, which are equipped with smart traffic devices, testing equipment, geographic information systems, comprehensive control platform and 5G-based communication systems,” a source close to the project disclosed.
 
It is learnt that SIP Mapping GIS Co Ltd and its information technology arm and SureStar (Suzhou) Laser Technology Co Ltd are providing technical services for the project.
