Communities in SIP’s Hudong sub-district recently carried out a series of campaigns in ushering in the National Energy Conservation Publicity Week which is observed annually across the country from June 17 to 23 to increase the public’s awareness of energy saving and environmental protection. 

Taking the chance, the communities enhanced publicity and distributed handouts to advocate low-carbon lifestyles among local residents. Additionally, many of the communities organized theme events.

 

For example, in the event in Baitang Community on June 20, a “river chief” who was designated to safeguard a local river and a team of volunteers conducted an inspection over the river in a move to protect the water from any trash or other pollutants.

 

Linghui Community offered a lecture on garbage classification to local residents, along with a chance for them to exchange wastes for daily use articles. 

 

Another community hosted a cycling event, calling on people to do their bid in saving energy and reducing emission.
