Suzhou Airline Freight Station (SAFS), a cooperative project between China Eastern Air Logistics Co Ltd and SIP Air and Port Logistics Co Ltd, fulfilled its first task on Jan 24 as a truck carrying cargos from the local airport entered SIP's Suzhou GLP Logistics Park and unloaded them at No. A3 Refrigerated Warehouse designated by the cargos' owner Siliconware Technology (Suzhou) Co Ltd.

Like many other airline freight stations that have been popping up in urban areas across the country, SAFS adopts convenient and economical multimodal transport modes that enable airlines and airports to directly serve local importers and exporters.

In SAFS's first case, its service helped the company save six hours in cargo delivery and cut logistics cost by about 20%. According to the SAFS operator, although the project is still in pilot run, more enterprises have shown intention to try the services.
