Wang Qiangbin, researcher at Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics (SINANO) in SIP, and his team recently released the latest results of their study on a new near-infrared fluorescence angiography system. The technology enables deeper, clearer and faster in vivo imaging that the existing imaging technologies cannot achieve.

In application to laboratory mice, the system demonstrated excellent performance in visualizing the track of the contrast agent through the whole body following the blood in veins.

"It will provide great help for drug research, for example, making clear how protein drugs work in patients' bodies. In addition, it can facilitate targeted delivery of anti-cancer drugs to human bodies without causing damage to the normal organs while helping reduce the usual toxic and side effects in the wake of chemotherapy," Wang said.

It is learnt that the imaging technology has been applied at a number of research institutes and hospitals home and abroad. Wang and his colleagues are trying to upgrade it to make it widely applicable in more fields.
