Recently, the stadium and natatorium of SIP Sports Centre, a project with an investment of 5 billion yuan, were roofed, meaning the completion of the most complicated and difficult parts of the project.
The roof of the stadium, spanning 260 meters, boasts a saddle-shaped steel cable structure, while the roof the natatorium is of a similar structure in the shape of a tennis racket with two warped ends. Both of them demonstrate great technical breakthroughs in architecture.
SIP Sports Centre, with a total planned floor area of 47 ha and a total building area of 360,000 sqm, will be a multi-functional facility for sports events, recreation and fitness activities, commercial entertainment activities as well as artistic performances. It is expected to come into service next June.
