About 500 SIP administrative staff, led by Xu Huimin, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, took part in a volunteer activity and planted approximately 800 trees in 18 species by Yangcheng Lake on March 4, including camphor, zelkovas, Chinese yew, osmanthus, pond cypress, magnolia, maple, crape myrtle and cherry.

Statistics show that in SIP the ratio of green areas is 38.2% and the green coverage ratio is 45.1%, both higher than the indices for state-level ecological garden city (35% and 40% respectively). The public green areas in SIP cover over 30 million sqm.
