The White Paper on AI-related Intellectual Property Rights in China was released in SIP on Jan 3. Compiled by over 20 AI and IP research institutes authorized by Artificial Intelligence Industrial Alliance, the white paper is designed to give AI enterprises a helping hand in IP right protection during their technology innovation and development.

The white paper offers clear definitions of AI technologies and classification criteria, systematic analysis of AI-related IP rights and specific measures for IP right protection.

“The white paper was compiled based on a list of actual problems that AI enterprises encountered in their operations,” said Yu Kai, executive president of SJTU (Suzhou) AI Research Institute which, an SIP-based joint establishment by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Suzhou government and SIP Administrative Committee, partook in the compilation of the white paper.

A forum on AI-related IP rights was held after the release ceremony, gathering a host of experts and scholars who shared their opinions on a wide range of issues concerning IP rights during AI development.
