China Life Caregarden, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) developed by China Life Insurance Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Life), a Beijing-headquartered company that provides life insurance and annuity products, opened at SIP’s Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort on Dec 17. It is equipped with comprehensive facilities to provide housing, meals, health care and social activities for seniors.

 

China Life Caregarden is reportedly China Life’s first project of its kind nationwide. It has about 980 apartments to accommodate nearly 1,500 seniors as well as a healthcare center, sports center, natural experience center, restaurants, hospital, theater, library and hotel to meet the seniors’ various needs. 

The company has made an investment of RMB 1.465 billion in the first phase to build two complexes on an about-242-mu (16-hectare) land. The eastern complex is now open for business, while the western one is expected to complete by the end of next year. The second phase of construction is planned to start in the first half of next year. 

 

China Life Caregarden’s garden-like environment is also an eye-catcher. Its design incorporates elements drawn from the waterside architectures in the regions south of the Yangtze River. 

 

Sheng Hetai, vice president of the company, said the project is an innovative practice in developing high-end senior living communities to tackle problems caused by the increasing aging of population. Sheng disclosed that products and services at China Life Caregarden will be continuously enriched to ensure the seniors a happy life in their twilight years.
