SPIL (Suzhou), a branch of Taiwan-based semiconductor company Siliconware Precision Industries in SIP, recently became another beneficiary from a local express airport-to-owner cargo delivery program which helped it cut delivery duration by about 20 hours and save logistics cost significantly for a batch of cargos in need of strict temperature control during logistics operations.

The express cargo delivery program, jointly launched by SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Zone authorities and China Eastern Air Logistics Co Ltd in June, enables cargos sorted at the airports in Shanghai to go through customs clearance faster and be directly delivered by truck to SIP for distribution to local cargo owners.
“It usually relies on dry ice to keep our cargos under the required temperatures during transportation. The longer the distance, the more dry ice is needed, and the higher the cost will be. It is our first time to try the express delivery service, and it has proved to be a good option,” said a source from the company.
