SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Zone (SIP-HMITZ) Administrative Committee and SIP Port Logistics Co Ltd jointly organized an event on Sept 26, offering over 20 people from SIP-based enterprises a chance to visit China Eastern Air Logistics Co Ltd (EAL)’s freight depot at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. In the process, the enterprise representatives acquired a better understanding of an express airport-to-owner cargo delivery program jointly launched by SIP-HMITZ authorities and EAL in June in order to help cargo owners save cost and time in logistics. 

 

It is reported that the program, enabling cargos sorted at Shanghai airports to go through customs clearance faster and be directly delivered by truck to SIP for distribution to local cargo owners, can help save about six hours of delivery and cut logistics cost by about 15% to 25% compared with other transportation modes.

In the event, the enterprise representatives had a tour around the cold room and cargo sorting zone at the freight depot, where they gained a holistic picture of the cargo delivery and clearance procedures under the program and exchanged opinions with EAL staff based on their needs for related services.
