A micro-optical sectioning tomography (MOST) system which can provide high-solution atlas of whole mouse brain at neurite level has caught the attention of many visitors to the “Great Journey & Splendid Achievements” exhibition that kicked off at Beijing Exhibition Centre, Beijing on Sept 23 to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is created by the MOST research team at HUST-Suzhou Institute for Brainsmatics, a research arm of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in SIP.

It is learnt that the research team is engaged in developing MOST technologies under several programs sponsored by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Special Fund of China for Development of Major Scientific Instruments and Equipment. Its research outcomes have won a series of science and technology awards.

The MOST system on display is able to provide three-dimensional structural data that can be used as important basis for brain study and treatment of brain diseases.
