SIP Science and Technology and Information Office hosted an information session on Oct 15, when Sun Lei, assistant to the dean of Suzhou Tongji Blockchain Research Institute, gave a talk on blockchain, a cryptographic digital ledger technology which, originally developed for Bitcoin, is spreading to all sorts of commercial transactions.

The event was part of the office's Sci-Tech Information Sharing Program which was initiated in 2016 to invite professionals from research institutes, enterprises and investment organizations to share their expertise and experience with related local administrative staff on a weekly basis.

In the event, Sun expounded on the composition of a blockchain to the participants and gave them a detailed account of its functions and application in business operations.
