Talent aggregation to drive innovation

A report on Oct 15 by CCTV 13, the news channel of China Central Television, gives the viewers a holistic picture of Suzhou's talent-based industrial innovation promotion strategy.

The report indicates a fast growth of the city's strategic emerging industries, referring to sectors where businesses are formed around new products or ideas in the early stages of development, and revealed the major underlying reason, the strategy of continuously luring talents and engaging them in local industrial transformation and upgrading by offering all-around support for their work and life.

The report mentioned SIP, the first cooperation project of its kind between the Chinese and Singaporean governments and one of the city's pioneers in pushing on the strategy.

"There are good opportunities in SIP for our dreams to come true," said Dr. Wu Dongmin who is working on a nanochip project at Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics with a subsidy of RMB 50 million from SIP authority.

According to Pan Yu, deputy director of the Publicity Department of CPC SIP Working Committee, SIP spends nearly RMB 3 billion each year attracting and supporting talents and their projects, and offers a package of services to help them get used to the local life.
