Five students from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in SIP attended the 10th United Nations Global Compact China-Japan-Korea Roundtable Conference and Youth Forum recently held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea. At the event, they shared their opinions on challenges and opportunities possibly brought by actions aimed at fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations Development Programme to address global challenges.

The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and to undertake partnerships in support of UN goals. The roundtable, hosted annually in turn by Global Compact Network China, Japan and ROK since 2009, is designed to promote collaborations among the three networks in defining common challenges, sharing good practices and promoting implementation of the Global Compact.

The event convened more than 200 government officials, enterprise representatives, scholars and young students from the three countries. They exchanged opinions on a series of topics concerning the challenges and opportunities following the 4th Industrial Revolution, aging of population and business development.
