SIP Science and Technology and Information Office hosted an information session on July 2, as part of its Sci-Tech Information Sharing Program which was initiated in 2016 to invite professionals from research institutes, enterprises and investment organizations to share their expertise and experience with related local administrative staff on a weekly basis. At the event, Gong Yi, founder and general manager of Oriental Semiconductor, gave a talk on Chinese semiconductor industry.

Gong founded the company in SIP in 2008 after working for over 10 years in research and development of semiconductors and related electronics in the United States and Germany. The company has now grown into a domestic top semiconductor supplier, with globally leading patented technologies.

Using easy-to-understand language, Gong expounded on the opportunities and challenges for Chinese semiconductor industry and offered advice based on his own experience for related business development in Suzhou.
