SIP-based on-line game company endeavors to found IPR protection alliance

Snail Digital Technology, an SIP-based on-line game developer and operator, convened a news briefing on Apr 11, unveiling the results of its lawsuit against two peer companies for infringing upon its intellectual property rights concerning the popular on-line game Tanji Panda. Concurrently, the company announced to take the lead in founding an intellectual property rights protection alliance of the game industry.

According to the news briefing, the lawsuit lodged in 2015 was wrapped up on Mar 30 with a compensation of RMB 30 million to Snail Digital for its economic losses in the case. The company said the money will be donated to the alliance to help SMEs safeguard their legal rights.

"The alliance will combine other game companies, law firms and IP service agencies, and there will be special funds for copyrights and patents,"said Shi Tao, the company's vice president who believes IPR protection is an urgent need in the continuously expanding game industry.
