SIP Market Supervision Bureau released its 2017 Statistics on Staple and Non-staple Food Prices in SIP on Jan 11, indicating an overall trend of stable prices despite slight fluctuations, such as small rises in eggs, aquatic products and vegetables, and gentle drops in meat and bean products.

The bureau said 41 local shops that sell agricultural and sideline products at fair price contributed a lot to the price stability. It revealed that these shops, including five supermarket branches and 36 community distribution stations, sell vegetables at a price 20% lower than the average level of the whole Suzhou city, while their grain products, edible oil, meat and eggs are priced 5% lower than the average city level.
