The Soochow University Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (SUAIRI) was inaugurated on Nov 20. Yang Yixin, vice president of Soochow University, and Wang Junyi, founder and president of 1Gene, a personalized and smart health service supplier based in Suzhou International Science Park (SISPARK), signed an agreement for cooperation in setting up a smart health service platform relying on gene and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Charles Ling, academician at Canadian Academy of Engineering, was appointed president of SUAIRI. According to Ling, SUAIRI will make best use of Soochow University's academic and research resources to solicit world-class experts to study AI technologies and expand their application in various fields, such as education, health care and industrial development.
