The ground-breaking ceremony of Emerson's Phase II scroll factory in Suzhou was held in SIP on Nov 21. The project is expected to greatly raise the company's annual scroll output and offer 100 jobs.

Emerson, founded in 1890, is a multinational corporation headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, the United States, manufacturing products and providing engineering services for a wide range of industrial, commercial, and consumer markets. It established Emerson Climate Technologies (Suzhou) Co Ltd in SIP in 1999 and then a scroll factory in 2014.

"Since its founding, the Phase I factory has provided great support for our production of scroll compressors with a total output of 4.5 million scroll units. The Phase II project, with an investment of US$ 40 million and a floor area of 6,500 sqm, is expected to produce more than 2 million scroll units each year," said Hakan Erdamar, president of Asia, Middle East and Africa at Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions.

Moreover, Hakan Erdamar revealed that Emerson plans to expand its R&D center in SIP in the near future as China has become its second largest market after the United States.
