The signing ceremony for the settlement of Harvard University Weitz Innovation Center (HUWIC) in SIP was held on Jan 19, marking the official launching of the project.

This is an international innovation platform that will attract global innovation resources and accelerate the building of a higher level innovation ecological system in SIP.

Present at the ceremony were Prof. David Weitz from Harvard University and others.  Member of US National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering and American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Weitz enjoys very high academic status and wide international academic influence.

HUWIC, set up at the proposal by prof. Weitz, will focus on such areas as life science, precision treatment and macro health. It is also committed to attracting enterprising projects to Suzhou to play the role of enterprise incubation. Its goal is to incubate over 100 projects and help the growth of a group of world level bio-tech companies.

Currently at least six projects from Harvard University and other prominent universities have settled in HUWIC. It is expected that HUWIC will carry out in-depth cooperation with bio-pharmaceutical enterprises in SIP in the future.

SIP is now actively implementing the national strategies of driving development by innovation and vigorously creating more and better cooperation platforms. The settlement of HUWIC will surely attract more global innovation talents and promote the regional innovation development in SIP.
