LVMH Group visits SIP for brand protection seminar

At the invitation of SIP Market Supervision and Management Bureau (SIPMSMB), the delegation headed by Laurent Marcadier, assets and HR affairs director of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) Group and member of executive council, and Joseph Tang, brand affairs director of LVMH Greater China, visited SIP recently for a seminar on brand protection.

As the former chief prosecutor of the High Court of France, Laurent Marcadier is very experienced in intellectual property protection and anti-infringement and anti-counterfeiting. He elaborated on LVMH Group, the structure of its anti-counterfeiting department, the challenges the department is confronted with and countermeasures, the general situation of global counterfeiting activities, and ways to differentiate some LVMH products from fake ones.

To combat fake products and trademark infringement is SIPMSMB's major function. According to the bureau, it will continue to strengthen its exchange and cooperation with world-known brands, make joint efforts to crack down on counterfeiting and infringement, and play a positive role in creating a level playing field.

LVMH Group is the product of a 1987 merger of leather goods company Louis Vuitton and wine family Mot Hennessy. It owns over 70 brands and is the largest luxury group in the world and its scope of business mainly includes the following five sectors: wine and spirits, fashion and leatherware, perfume and cosmetics, clock and watch and jewelry, and selective retailing.
