BD's Third Manufacturing Base in China Opens in SIP

The second manufacturing base of BD Medical Devices (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. was put into operation on May 19 in Suzhou Industrial Park as the third manufacturing base in China invested by BD, a leading global medical technology company. This is the third time for BD to introduce into China its production line with leading technology and manufacturing techniques, following the production lines for medical and diagnostic products. Such a move signifies a further step in BD's localization development. Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, and Wang Xiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, were present at the opening ceremony.

With 48,000-square-meter floorage and about 100 million US dollars' worth of investment, the manufacturing base is equipped with 4,500-square-meter cutting-edge class-100,000 clean room in its 23,000-square-meter building to carry out diabetes nursing business and pre-analytical system business, and mainly produce insulin pen needles and disposable vacuum blood collection tubes, with the annual output expected to be over 1 billion.

BD, the leading global medical technology company, has branches in 50 countries. Since its entry in 1995, BD now has two plants in SIP, namely, BD Medical Devices (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. and BD Rapid Diagnostics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. The newly completed manufacturing base has upgraded the technology and quality of the production line across the board and will operate in accordance with the highest international standard.

In recent years, SIP takes the development of the three new-emerging industries as the important driving force for transformation and upgrading. Therefore, the bio-medical industry picks up speed at an annual growth rate of 30%. In his speech, Yang Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee and Director of SIP Administrative Committee, addressed that BD had taken root in SIP and achieved integrated development and it also had become an epitome that SIP could take as a typical instance to bring in other world-famous enterprises, and he promised that all the government departments would continue to provide one-stop pro-business service to support enterprises in their growth and expansion.
