APP China, a leading paper manufacturer, signed a letter of intent with Jiangsu Dingsheng New Energy on December 2, announcing to invest two billion yuan in PV power facilities on top of its workshop roofs with total capacity of 200 megawatts within three to five years.

The program involved eight plants of APP China. At their completion, these facilities will produce 200 million kWh each year, save 80,000 tons of standard coal, cut the emission of carbon dioxide by 300,000 tons and sulfur dioxide by 17,000 tons every year.

Gold Hong Ye Paper, a subsidiary of APP China in Suzhou Industrial Park, installed solar panels on its 300,000-square-meter plant roof, and the 20-megawatt facility was connected with the grid at the end of June this year. With annual capacity of 20 million kWh, this is the biggest PV program on a single roof in Jiangsu Province and provides one third of total electric power consumed by the plant.
