The customs and commerce authorities in Suzhou Industrial Park recently launched a system based on exclusive data channel and electronic seal and signature technology for joint examination and approval of processing trade applications.

A company was previously required to submit online business data to commerce bureau before getting paperwork done at the service window, contracting brokers to log the data from the papers stamped with the official seal of commerce authority into the system of local customs, and then applying for approval at the service counter of customs. It took three to five working days to complete the entire process.

After four-month trial operation since June 2014, the new system now covers 780 companies and supports a series of services including file submission, electronic verification and approval, and status tracking.
