Jointly sponsored by Suzhou Civilization Office and Education Bureau and SIP Civilization Office and Education Bureau, the 10th Suzhou Youngsters’ Chinese Culture Activities (SZYCCA) was held at SIP Youth & Children Center on Dec 21. Students from over 100 primary and middle schools showcased the handiworks they made using traditional handicrafts or competed in making handiworks on site.

SZYCCA is known as the biggest event of its kind in Suzhou. It is designed to increase youngsters’ knowledge of and love for Chinese culture, and encourage them to carry forward traditional Chinese handicrafts.

There were about 1,000 handiworks on display, and a jury panel consisting of experts and jurors selected from the public gave their scores to the works. Besides, many students made such works as festival lanterns, models of traditional Chinese architectures, cloth dolls and sculptures in competition or for the purpose of demonstrating their hands-on skills to the visitors.
