NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI), a research arm National University of Singapore (NUS) founded in SIP in 2010, is playing an increasingly important role as a bridge for Sino-Singaporean cooperation.

With 95 researchers and six research centers and laboratories, NUSRI has done a good job in fulfilling its main task, namely to bring out as many outcomes as possible in the fields of nano materials, energy and environmental protection, advanced electronics, software engineering, agriculture and food, and AI.

On the other hand, NUSRI operates a list of talent cultivation programs to tighten the ties between the education circles and students in China and Singapore, and incubate businesses and help global tech startups seek overseas development based on BLOCK71 Suzhou, a branch of Singapore’s iconic startup hub BLOCK71 in it.

Moreover, NUSRI hosts InnovFest Suzhou each year since 2015 in an attempt to facilitate partnering among research institutions and enterprises in groundbreaking innovation and cutting-edge technology development, and a variety of contests designed to discover promising startup projects and lend them a hand in their development. It is also pushing on the China Immersion Program (CIP) to help Singaporean businesses learn more about Chinese market and seek business opportunities in the country.
