SISO team wins first prize in national big data skill competition

A team consisting of two teachers and three students from SIP Institute of Services Outsourcing (SISO) garnered the first prize in the big data skill competition that was held from June 12 to 14 at Guizhou Light Industry Technical College in Southwest China’s Guizhou province as part of the 2019 National Vocational Students Skills Competition (China Skills).

China Skills, sponsored by the Ministry of Education and several other ministries and commissions, is held annually to demonstrate the importance of vocational education and raise the profile and recognition of skilled personnel.

The big data skill competition saw 98 teams consisting of 284 contestants from 28 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) competing in using software Hadoop to process massive amount of data in order to solve various problems.

It is learnt that SISO has been a strong performer in cultivating computer professionals and has bagged a list of awards in related competitions over the past three years.
