Suzhou Centennial College (SCC) in SIP kicked off the second session of “Suzhou-Panama Chinese Learning Program” on Apr 4, and announced concurrently that 33 Panamanian students had finished their 12-month Chinese language study in the first session of the program.

The “Suzhou-Panama Chinese Learning Program”, the first of its kind since China and Panama established formal diplomatic relations in June 2017, started in March 2018 with 52 attendees that the Panamanian government selected from over 3,000 applicants. The program offered the students chances to learn Chinese language and know better about Chinese culture such as traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, embroidery and shadowboxing with full scholarship.

By the end of February, 33 of the students had passed the Level III assessment of HSK, the country’s only standardized test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers, while the other 19 will take the Level IV HSK exam in August.
