Tsinghua alumni share their stories with students in SIP

In an event jointly organized by SIP Xingwan School and Tsinghua University (Suzhou) Alumni Association on Mar 26, Zhu Nankang and Ren Haiying, two alumni of Tsinghua University, a prestigious Chinese university in Beijing, shared their study and work experiences with the school’s students, hoping to inspire them to study hard for a bright future.

At the event, Zhu, a professor at Soochow University (SU), director of SU Irradiation Research Institute and chairman of Yangtze River Delta Irradiation Research Federation, told the students a succession of stories about his study at Tsinghua and his collaboration with a group of scientists in developing artificial nuclide 147Pm and 238Pu, a radioactive isotope of plutonium. He encouraged the students to make persistent efforts to achieve their goals in their current study as well as their future work.

Ren, chairwoman of Aether Aviation, a Suzhou-based company dedicated to aviation-related technical and business consulting, and president of SIP UAV Industry Alliance, shared her experiences as a student at Tsinghua and an overseas school, an engineer at United Technologies Corporation in the United States, and a company leader. She suggested the students try their utmost to learn more about the world to broaden their horizons.

In the Q&A session, Zhu and Ren answered the students’ questions.
