Over 50 Panamanian students, who are learning Chinese at SIP-based Suzhou Centennial College (SCC) under the "Suzhou-Panama Chinese Learning Program", recently paid a visit to Panamanian Embassy in Beijing, in the company of Wu Xuejing, deputy dean of SCC International Education College.

The "Suzhou-Panama Chinese Learning Program", the first of its kind since China and Panama established formal diplomatic relations in June 2017, was launched in March to offer Panamanian students opportunities to learn more about Chinese language and culture. The students were picked by Panamanian government from over 3,000 applicants.

At the welcome reception, Panama's Ambassador to China Francisco Carlo Escobar Pedreschi expressed thanks to SCC for its efforts to push on the program. In the following discussion session, the visitors and the embassy staff shared their opinions on educational, economic and cultural exchange between the two countries, and the ambassador answered the students' inquiries.

After that, Wu gave the embassy staff an introduction to their school and the program's progress, presented double-sided Suzhou-style embroidery to the embassy and invited the ambassador to attend the students' graduation ceremony next year.
