A two-day picture-book-based teaching competition kicked off at SIP Xinghai Primary School on May 14, in a bid to encourage English teaching reform in primary schools.

The first-day event saw two contests among fourth and fifth grade teachers. In each of them, the teachers demonstrated their classroom teaching designs with unique personal styles in picture-book-based knowledge transfer and teacher-student interaction.

The jury panel then announced the contest results and commented on the teachers' performance. They believe that the teachers' teaching modes are conducive to piquing students' interest in reading English books, and encouraging them to delve deeper into life philosophies contained in the books and keep an open and creative mind.
