Prof. Liu Zhiyuan, a transgene expert who serves as a teacher at Cold Spring Harbor (CSH) Asia DNA Learning Center, gave a talk on transgene at SIP Dushu Lake School on Mar 16. The event was the last leg of her lecture tour to six primary and middle schools in the area.

In each of the lectures, Liu imparted knowledge on transgene to the fifth to seventh graders, teaching them to identify genetically modified food products and helping them gain a better understanding of application of transgenic technologies in medical services and industrial production. Her interactive and interesting teaching received positive response from the students, who always raced to answer her questions.

According to the organizer CSH Asia DNA Learning Center, events of similar kind are on their future plan, expected to further arouse the local youngsters' interest in science.
