At the ceremony, Xu Huimin, secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee briefed on the latest development of SIP. As a major cooperative project between Chinese and Singaporean governments, SIP has made striking achievements since it was initiated over 20 years ago.

With the strategic cooperation agreement, SIP and BIT will integrate superior resources, promote the fusion of talent, disciplines, research and industry and form an integrated innovation industry chain through the cooperation between universities, enterprises and government.

According to Xu, taking advantage of BIT's plentiful resources of science, technology and intelligence and SIP's scientific and technological resources and industrial foundation, the cooperation aims at propelling the industrialization of original technologies, boost the aggregation of quality science and education resources in SIP and their development in coordination with emerging industries, and build the brand of innovation city.

With a view to pushing forward in-depth cooperation between SIP and BIT in scientific research and technical development, the three parties, namely, School of Life Sciences and Technology, BIT (SLSTBIT), SIP UCLA Institute for Technology advancement (SIPUCLAITA) and Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District (SEID) Administrative Committee, concluded a cooperation agreement to set up "SLSTBIT-SIPUCLAITA Joint Research Center" in SEID.
