State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television issued a notice on Dec 28, 2016 to announce the first batch of Science & Technology and Standard Key Labs in press and publication industry. National University of Singapore (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI) has been selected into Item 17 of the Professional Sector "Mixing Real and Virtual Technology Interactive Multi-media Lab".

"Content presentation and expression" is the research direction of the "Mixing Real and Virtual Technology Interactive Multi-media Lab", while AR and VR technologies are its focus of research.

Jointly founded by NUSRI, Suzhou Mixed Reality Software Technology Co., Ltd. and Jinling Institute of Technology, the NUSRI-based lab is designed to be a professional platform of industry-university-research cooperation so as to propel the R&D and upgrading of technologies.

NUSRI Interactive Multi-media Research Center is primarily engaged in the original research and independent development of core technologies in such areas as e-commerce, network three-dimensional audio system, mixed reality, human-computer interaction, etc.

As a multi-discipline comprehensive research center, its scope of research extends to computer vision, computer graphics, streaming media transmission, social media and other areas. It has undertaken multiple research projects including the Ministry of Science and Technology International Cooperation Program, the National Natural Science Fund, etc.

The official recognition of NUSRI has demonstrated its long-term research accumulation of computer underlying algorithms and its strong power in AR/VR technologies.

In the future, NUSRI will continue to make good use of its talent advantage as an international research institute and push forward the industrialization of research findings in coordination with enterprise technological innovation capability and the driving advantage of market demand.
