From July 19 to August 2, five students from Suzhou High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yang Yunda, Zhang Xinyu, Xu Xing, Zhou Yifan and Lu Yi, all aged 16, made a 15-day tour overseas led by their teacher Wang Chenguang. The students traveled to Svalbard and major Nordic cities, including Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.

The arctic expedition tour was organized by China Association for Scientific Expedition and these five students were the first batch of students from Jiangsu to join the expedition together with 40 excellent students from other provinces. Under the guidance of scientists and experts, the students explored the polar region and studied local nature and cultural environment.

All the students had prepared their research subjects before departure and made diverse research in the climate, natural resource, animals, vegetations, geology and geomorphology during the journey.

According to Principal Zhou Xiaoyang, the school encourages the students to do scientific research ."Travelling in polar region as well as in the Nordic countries is a great opportunity to inspire the students' interest in scientific research. I hope this scientific study tour is a useful experience that will help the students get ino the habit of doing scientific research."
