Summer is paradise for school kids and the 2-month vacation promises a more colorful life. In Suzhou Industrial Park, there are diverse community activities and programs available for girls and boys to choose.

Learning more
Picking up a writing brush to learn traditional art of calligraphy, opening a book to spend some time reading; for many kids, summer holiday is about learning more instead of playing all day long.

Local community offices scheduled a series of activities for school children, including "Being Grateful to Motherland & Making an Appointment with Future" painting contest in celebration of SIP's 20th anniversary, lectures about safety, "Happy Summer" film week, go chess club, the campaign of promoting standard Chinese, calligraphy contest, and the selection of "Star of Reading".

Being a volunteer
On the afternoon of June 28, Oudian Residential Community held an opening ceremony at Fangzhou Community Club for its "Firefly Volunteers Cooperation & Survival Summer Camp".

The little "fireflies" flew to Yunnan Province on July 3, bringing with them the stationery bought with the money collected at two charity sales held in March and May by selling DIY t-shirts and used goods as well as the books donated by the Party members of SIP City Management Bureau.

Their destination is Qingyun Primary School at Weishan County of Dali Prefecture and they spend two nights camping on top of a local mountain, managing to face the challenges of surviving in nature.

Meanwhile, more young volunteers find meaningful ways to spend the summer holiday by serving as supervisors at Internet cafes and selling second-hand things at flea market.

Attending a summer camp
Nearly 80 students and parents recently gathered by Dushu Lake for a summer camp touring the colleges in the area. There are 26 higher education institutes based at Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District, including Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Sino-French Institute of Renmin University of China, UCLA Advanced Technology Institute, Karlsruhe Institute for Technology China Branch, and George Washington University China Institute.

Inspired by the hit TV program, "Daddy Where Are We Going", Huzuo'an Residential Community organized a one-day summer camp and arranged a special field trip for daddies and kids to spend some quality time together while mommies took a day off enjoying the trip and recording the happy moments.
