Forum on service trade opens in SIP

The 2nd China-Singapore Trade in Services Innovation Forum cum the First Jinji Lake Modern Services Summit kicked off at Jinji Lake International Convention Center, SIP on Nov 9. Lan Shaomin, secretary of CPC Suzhou Committee, Gabriel Lim, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, and Fan Shijie, deputy director of Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services at the Ministry of Commerce of China, delivered opening speeches. 
 
Sponsored by Jiangsu People’s Government and organized by Suzhou People's Government and SIP Administrative Committee, the two-day event consisted of three theme activities, eight sub-forums and two business promotions for more than 500 experts and scholars and business operators from related fields to view exhibits, brainstorm strategies for development of service trade and seek cooperation opportunities. 
 
Huang Qifan, vice chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Chinese economist Pei Changhong and Gu Qingyang, associate professor at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, gave keynote speeches at the event. 
 
 
Yang Zhengwei, deputy director of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce, expounded on the Protocol on Upgrading the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement signed between the Chinese and Singaporean governments in October.
 
SIP Administrative Committee signed framework agreements with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and China Association of Trade in Services to launch strategic cooperation for innovative development of service trade. Besides, the operator of Chinese Service Trade Innovation and Development Guidance Fund and several related funds signed agreements with its partners for a number of projects in Suzhou.
