SIP Administrative Committee and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), a prestigious research university in the Republic of Korea, signed an agreement in SIP on Aug 5 to jointly set up the China-Korea Innovation Technology Research Institute in SIP.

Founded in 1971, KAIST is known worldwide for its remarkable achievements in cultivating high-tech professionals and its great R&D abilities. It has held the accolade as one of Reuters’ “Asia Pacific’s Most Innovative Universities” for three consecutive years, and ranks 41st in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.

The joint research institute is expected to serve as a bridge for cooperation between the two countries in science and technology development and commercialization and talent exchange. It will also endeavor to promote cooperation with higher education institutions in the United States, Japan, Germany and other countries and regions in such fields as semiconductors, biomedicine and nanotech based on the industrial development trends and demands in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The Administrative Committee of Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone and SIP developer and operator China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group Co Ltd (CSSD) signed an agreement with a company under KAIST on the same day to launch a project in SIP in the future.
