Innovation plays the most important role in driving development and it cannot succeed without an ideal ecosystem. Zhou Xudong, deputy secretary of SIP Party Working Committee and director of SIP Administrative Committee, said that SIP is continuing to deepen the implementation of an innovation-driven development strategy, accumulate resources and factors as well as provide impetus for innovation and business startup to develop a unique ecosystem for innovation.

In recent years, SIP has been adhering to the way to lead regional transformation and upgrading through industrial restructuring and promote a high-end and innovative development of leading industries. Electronic information as well as machinery and equipment manufacturing have become the No.1 and No.2 pillar industries in SIP. High-tech industry chains have been established in the IC, optoelectronics as well as aircraft and auto parts manufacturing sectors. SIP has been making great efforts to raise the awareness of coordinated innovation and build integrated R&D, incubation, sci-tech finance and talent supply systems for innovation. Instead of a single industrial development mode, SIP has adopted a reasonable layout for production and living since the very beginning of its planning, dividing the land covering an area of 278 sq km into several functional zones, including the Finance, Business and Trade Zone, International Business Zone, Science and Education Innovation Zone and Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort. Based on that, more than 300 professional plans have been made and modified.

In future, SIP plans to continue carrying forward the development concept of "innovation, coordination, environmental protection, opening-up and sharing" to emphasize the role of innovation in leading transformation and upgrading, promote the comprehensive pilot projects for opening-up and innovation, accelerate concentration of high-end innovation factors, such as services and talents, and speed up the construction of a domestic first-class and international famous high-tech industrial park to expand the influence of SIP as a cluster for innovation.
