Xu Huimin, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, inspected SIP International Trade Zone (SIPITZ) Thursday. He visited Designated Port for Imported Fruits, womai.com's East China Operation Center and Samsung Semiconductor Global Distribution Center and held a meeting to get updates on the development of SIPITZ.

At Designated Port for Imported Fruits (DPIF), Xu listened to the introduction of the port, checked its layout map and inquired about its equipment, products, project progress, etc. SIP's DPIF is China's first designated port for imported fruits that has ever been set up at a non-Category I port.

DPIF will become a major port for imported fruits in the Yangtze River Delta area after it goes into operation and play a significant role in diversifying SIP's business and trade platform, expanding international cooperation and extending the scope of service industry.

Xu requested that safety should be put in the first place and he recognized the informatization of DPIF.

As COFCO's subsidiary B2C e-commerce company dedicated to foodstuff, www.womai.com offers over 40,000 commodities ranging from overseas direct purchase, fruits and vegetables, to snacks, grain and oil, etc., and is now a popular foodstuff online shopping platform in China. At womai.com's East China Operation Center, Xu asked in detail about its sales mode, product categories and offline distribution methods, encouraging the center to continue to grow bigger and stronger in Suzhou.

Afterwards, Xu and his entourage visited Samsung Semiconductor Global Distribution Center (SSGDC). As a round-the-clock facility, SSGDC is mainly responsible for goods distribution for Suzhou Samsung factories and delivery service for global customers, and the goods distributed and delivered include memory bank, memory chip and integrated electrical equipment.

Xu found out about SSGDC's intelligent warehouse management, logistics direction, sales, etc., and spoke positively of the center's effort to improve competitiveness through innovation. He said that SIP would go on to facilitate enterprises to expand their production capacities with good services, and he hoped to keep in touch with Samsung and help with instant troubleshooting.

At the meeting after inspection, Xu was briefed on SIPITZ's economic indicators, regional management, investment promotion, etc., and got a full picture of its development, characteristics, strengths and follow-up work plan.

Xu pointed out that SIPITZ had been undergoing a process of innovation and kept improving itself as it developed along with SIP and that its achievements should also be attributed to the support from customs, national tax and other departments concerned. He said that working together to propel development is very precious experience and also the driving force to go ahead, adding that the spirit should be sustained and carried forward.

Xu laid emphasis on innovation as the foothold for future development since the development of SIPITZ is the result of constant innovation. He urged people to keep innovating policy and business format and work hard to create new formats. When it comes to policy research, SIPITZ should proceed from reality and take into account both the innovativeness and the coverage of policy, trying to maximize the efficiency.

Xu pointed out that SIPITZ should push forward its transformation and upgrading process from the previous function zone to the featured industry zone; it should make its orientation clear, step up the investment promotion effort and increase output. The international trade zone should optimize its management mechanism, have new and reasonable management model, and perfect the resident organizations and companies gradually. It should promote the development of industries and function platforms, keep improving efficiency, and give full play to the powerful role of the industrial sector in SIP’s economic growth.
