Shi Taifeng Meets President of The Republic of Congo

Governor Shi Taifeng of Jiangsu Province met President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo and his entourage on July 7 in Suzhou.

Shi Taifeng expressed warm welcome to the president and his entourage, saying that Jiangsu Province would implement the important consensus of views between the heads of state of the two countries and, in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-African "ten major cooperation plans", push forward the pragmatic cooperation in multiple fields between Jiangsu Province and the Republic of Congo. Shi Taifeng proposed to deepen cooperation in production capacity and equipment manufacturing, to encourage enterprises of advantageous industries in Jiangsu to invest and set up businesses in the Republic of Congo, and to share with the Republic of Congo the experience of construction of industrial parks. Shi also suggested that cooperation be strengthened in agriculture, and training in agricultural technology be carried out. The cultural exchange and mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples will be promoted on a solid popular and social basis. He pledged that Jiangsu Province would go all out to support the inter-government exchange and cooperation and raise the friendly intercourse to a high level in more extensive fields, and make greater contribution to the continued development of the friendly relations between China and the Republic of Congo.

President Denis Sassou Nguesso said that the Republic of Congo was bestowed with rich natural resources and, in the on-going construction of special economic zones and by taking the opportunity of establishing comprehensive strategic partnership with China, the Republic of Congo would enhance cooperation with Jiangsu in the construction of special economic zone and in production capacity, trade, and culture, and hope to adapt the development experience of Suzhou Industrial Park in building Pointe-Noire industrial park. He expressed welcome for Jiangsu enterprises to invest in businesses in the Republic of Congo for win-win results. He said that Suzhou was a very beautiful city and hoped that, with the establishment of sister city relationship between Suzhou and Pointe-Noire, the two sides would constantly enhance their friendly contacts and exchange and cooperation.

During his stay in Suzhou, the president and his entourage visited SIP Urban Planning Exhibition Center and GCL Group, etc.
