On July 9, Shi Taifeng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, met Hitachi delegation headed by President Toshiaki Higashihara.

As a well-known Fortune-500 corporation, said Shi Taifeng, Hitachi has made great strides in business expansion in China, and it has so far opened 12 companies of legal persons and 5 subsidiaries in Suzhou, with 13 of them located in Suzhou Industrial Park with a total investment of 500 million US dollars. The fact that Hitachi becomes one of foreign companies with the greatest number of investment projects in SIP shows its confidence in development in SIP and the rest of Suzhou. Shi said that China has entered the new normal conditions of economic growth, and Suzhou is accelerating transformation and upgrading, seeking development through innovation, constantly improving urban quality, and uplifting the urban functions, whereas SIP has formulated related policies in an effort to be a pioneer of opening-up and comprehensive experimentation. He hoped that Hitachi would grasp the opportunity, give full play to its superior information technology, carry out more cooperation in high-end industries, and bring into SIP and the whole of Suzhou more functions in management, R&D, and logistics. Shi promised to further improve service standard and system mechanism, to enhance IPR protection, and create a more benign, internationalized, law-abiding business environment to ensure better growth of enterprises and win-win results.

Toshiaki Higashihara gave a brief account of Hitachi and said that Hitachi currently owned over 100 enterprises in China, and the sales volume at Chinese market made up 12% of its global sale. Suzhou is one of the regions in China with the greatest density of investment by Hitachi, he said, and he looked forward to more cooperation opportunities with Suzhou in rural urbanization, green economy, information infrastructure, and the construction of smart city.

Also present at the meeting were Wang Xiang, Standing Committee Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, and Xu Huadong, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Suzhou Municipal Government.
