CPC Suzhou Industrial Park Working Committee met in the afternoon of May 13 to study the speech of Premier Li Keqiang on economic work, especially about the implementation of the national strategy of "the Belt and Road" and further opening-up to the outside world. The meeting reviewed the current situation on safe production in conjunction with relevant instructions of the municipal Party committee, and assigned work and tasks of production safety.

Production safety has been basically maintained in SIP since the beginning of the year, though there are grave problems in some areas, shown in the 53 accidents that occurred from January to April with economic losses amounting to 974,000 yuan. In comparison with the corresponding period of last year, the occurrences of accidents dropped by 30.3% and direct economic losses reduced by 19.1%. However, traffic accidents and fires occurred pretty frequently in neighborhoods and construction sites.

For next stage, the main focus of production safety is to put the responsibility system in place, especially that of the main organizational bodies and the "responsibilities of both Party and government organs", and to reinforce the network-based supervision over production safety, to impose strict regulations of production safety standards for all units and improve the overall level of management of production safety.

Wang Xiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, emphasized at the meeting that departments at all levels in SIP should follow strictly the instructions of the municipal authorities and exercise harsher supervision over production safety to create a good atmosphere for SIP's transformation and business growth. He required that solid work should be done in strengthening the awareness of production safety, in the strict implementation of the accountability system, and in taking specific measures of prevention and punishment.
