On the morning of April 13, Suzhou Industrial Park held a meeting at Modern Building to analyze the economic operation in the first quarter of 2015 and assign tasks for the second quarter and next stage. Wang Xiang, Standing Committee Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee made a speech, and Yang Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee and Director of SIP Administrative Committee, delivered an analytical report.

From the beginning of this year, SIP faced complex macro-environment in its development. However, by following the demands of the municipal, provincial and central authorities, seeking steady progress, grasping the economic "new normal", following the guidance of innovation and taking the lead in reform breakthroughs, SIP maintained a stable and sound development momentum. In the first quarter, SIP made solid progress in reform and innovation, improvement of industrial economic results, and foreign trade, and achieved rapid growth of new-emerging industries, sound service economic situation, a significant drop in investment growth and a steady increase in real estate market. In the first quarter, SIP's gross industrial output value increased by 5.7% to 102 billion yuan; electricity consumption for industrial purposes went up by 7.6% to 1.87 billion kwh; the general public budgeted revenue grew by 8.7% to 6.75 billion yuan; import & export volume increased by 0.2% to 111.93 billion yuan; fixed investment declined by 15.7% to 12.56 billion yuan; and the total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 12.5% to 9.65 billion yuan.

In his speech, Wang Xiang stressed that in the new situation in 2015, SIP's departments at all levels should be ready to shoulder the responsibility to fully implement the plans of the municipal, provincial and central authorities, to push forward "four all-rounds" strategic deployment, to actively adapt to and guide the new normal in economic development, to promote steady growth, pattern transformation and structural adjustment in a coordinated way, and to strive to achieve the dual objectives of maintaining a medium-high level of growth rate and moving toward a medium-high level of development. And he also put forth three points of requirements for all the cadres, namely, to arouse higher enthusiasm for work and strengthen development energy, to improve government service and boost confidence in development, and to deepen reform and strengthen competitive edge.
