SIP's Persistent Effort in Promoting People-Centered City Civilization

Suzhou Industrial Park government called a work meeting on September 28 to promote urban civilization and to assign new tasks of building SIP into a national civilized city, that is, emphasizing people's livelihood, creating long-term effective management system, and realizing sustainability of city civilization at a higher and more extensive level. The participating officials included Wang Xiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, and Yang Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee and Director of SIP Administrative Committee.

"National Civilized City" is the highest honorary title for a city in the country that serves as an important indicator of its social and economic development. Since Suzhou won the title in 2008, SIP has worked hard in optimizing the system and regulating daily administration. It has ranked the top at the city's assessment for four years in a row and is named one of the first model districts in Suzhou.

To prepare for this year's national review, SIP started a general survey in early September, identified 290 problems, and rectified 278 of them. SIP authorities dispatched task forces to survey residential communities, streets and alleys, and public areas. The focus is on exploring and establishing effective system for long-term administration so as to realize sustainability and to make it part of the daily regular work. The ultimate goal is to allow more people to benefit from civilization construction.

   

At the new stage of building civilized city, SIP is to emphasize education, to create a healthy and positive humane environment, to improve the social credit system, to promote city construction and management, to continue the city landscape program, to optimize public services, to build harmonious communities, and to encourage volunteers.

The government agencies announced their goals and tasks at the meeting. The officials and officers from SIP City Management Bureau, SIP Traffic & Patrol Police, CPC Huxi Working Committee, and Loufeng Sub-District Office reported their resolutions and plans.
