Over 1,000 foreigners and Suzhou citizens gather on Suzhou International Day

The long-anticipated “Go Jiangsu” Suzhou International Day celebration kicked off at SIP Central Park on Oct 19, gathering over 400 people from 20-plus countries including the United States, France, Russia, Japan and Germany and nearly 1,000 Suzhou citizens. 
 
The iSuzhou On-line Service Platform for Foreigners in Suzhou was launched concurrently to provide on-line consultancy to over 30,000 foreigners who are living and working in Suzhou through designated website and mobile app to help them get used to local life.
 
The event also incorporated a parent-child flea market and a series of exhibitions and fairs where outcomes in environmental protection, creative cultural products of exotic styles and Suzhou handicrafts recognized as intangible cultural heritage elements were showcased. Besides, there was an event where 110 paintings drawn by Suzhou-native youngsters to depict their love for their hometown received awards and will be made into postcards to be sent to overseas friends. 
 
It is noteworthy that a series of activities themed SIP Media Day were held as part of the event. Lots of people viewed the local media organizations’ displays, interacted with the media professionals and answered a questionnaire designed to gather their opinions on SIP. SIP’s mascot “Bufan” and specially designed canvas bag won the favor of many people, and the media organizations gave visitors small gifts to express thanks for their attention and support.
