Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), a cooperative university founded by China’s Xi’an Jiaotong University and the UK’s University of Liverpool in SIP, and its partner TÜV Nord, a Germany-based globally leading provider of third-party certification and technical services, jointly inaugurated the Sino-German International Standard Research Center at XJTLU on Sept 4. 

 

“The center makes research of international standards and provides certification services to social entities and businesses to help ensure safety and quality from production to consumption,” said Xi Youmin, executive president of XJTLU.

 

A project to study standards concerning certificates of origin for imported consumer goods, the center’s first project, was launched on the same day. 

It is learnt that it is not the first time for XJTLU and TÜV Nord to team up in the field. The two parties signed a MOU last year to set up a platform in Taicang (a county-level city under Suzhou’s jurisdiction) to make innovative standards and offer intellectual property protection, qualification certification and professional training services.
